Green Funerals

A new scheme we are proud to be a part of offers you the choice to make your funeral arrangement carbon neutral. This is done through an initiative called ‘Greener Goodbyes’. It works by allowing you to calculate the carbon footprint of your service, via the online tool,and purchase carbon credits to offset your impact. The cost of your carbon credits then funds national projects such as, the restoration of natural peatlands or tree planting.

‘Green’ or eco-friendly are becoming more popular in the wake of current world discussions. A green funeral is something which we fully support. There are many ways you can incorporate ‘greener’ aspects into your funeral arrangements. For example Your choice of coffin; there are lots of eco coffins nowadays such as wicker, wool or banana leaf.

As a greener option, many families chose to have a small flower tribute and then have donations made in lieu of flowers to a charitable cause.

With regard to flowers, many florists we work with can make beautiful tribute which are made up of a selection of seasonal local flowers which would be free from plastic, floral foam and any metal.

Consider the fuel consumption of the aspects of a funeral, maybe car sharing would be a possibility therefore reducing the need for several vehicles or high fuel consumption vehicles like limousines.

In the case of a cremation there are many eco-friendly urns to chose from. For example, a water dispersal urn or a biodegradable urn for internment are both very popular.
